Great American Smoke Out

The Great American Smoke out is today, Thursday, November 19th.  This event encourages smokers to quit or to use the day to make a plan to quit.   Smoking causes immediate damage to your body and threatens your future and those who you smoke around as it increases the risk of cancer, lung disease, heart attack and early death.  Anyone who smokes knows how difficult it can be to quit.  According to the CDC there are five ways to get ready to quit smoking:

  1. Set a quit date.
  2. Tell your family and friends about your quit plan.
  3. Be prepared for challenges.
  4. Remove cigarettes and other tobacco from your car, home and workplace.
  5. Talk to your pharmacist, doctor or quit coach about quit options.
