World Asthma Day

World Asthma Day is an annual event organized by the Global Initiative for Asthma (GINA) to improve asthma awareness and care around the world.  This year we recognize World Asthma Day on May 3rd.

Those who suffer from asthma are familiar with what can cause an attack. Dust mites, pollen and pet dander are the three most common triggers. Each season comes with its own potential triggers for asthma sufferers. When spring comes around, more triggers arrive as well.

Pollen is the most common of spring allergy triggers. However, some things can affect asthma sufferers in ways that other people may not even think of. One of these examples is citronella candles and bug spray. These are used to keep mosquitoes and other insects away but can trigger an asthma episode. If you are triggered by these candles, stay several feet away from them so an attack will be less likely. You may also want to consider using bug repellant products that are unscented lotions instead of aerosol sprays.

Spring cleaning is a common ritual in many households but some cleaning products can be triggers. When using these cleaners make sure you are in a well-ventilated area. Certain or strong fragrances can cause an asthma attack so be sure to read labels carefully.

Our air purifiers offer an easy and effective way to eliminate asthma triggers in the home.   We at Airfree also suggest an air purifier in your home and office.  By using an Airfree Air Purifier you could also potentially stop the spread of germs. Airfree Air Purifier is an air purifier that sterilizes the air without the use of a filter and allows air to flow in and out while killing airborne allergens like pollen, dust mites and mold.  By using heat to destroy airborne allergens, Airfree draws in microbiological antigens and kills them through high heat.  Airfree is highly effective and has won many awards for its efficiency.  It is a patented technology that requires no maintenance and is completely silent.

Asthma affects over an estimated 300 million Americans. If you find you are having trouble controlling your asthma during the spring or at any other time of the year, you should talk with your healthcare provider as they can give you the best advice.

We firmly believe in our company mission –  To combine the best technology and design, to turn our clients’ needs into innovative solutions for indoor atmospheres, whether for health reasons, comfort or to increase productivity.  Check us out at www.airfree.com for a purifier that will work best for you.
