World Hypertension Day

Let’s save the date!  May 17, 2016 is officially World Hypertension Day.  The theme for this year’s event is KNOW YOUR NUMBERS, Know your Blood Pressure!  According to the World Hypertension League site: Globally, increased blood pressure is the leading cause of deaths and disability. An estimated 18% of deaths (9.4 million) and 162 million years of life lost were attributed to increased blood pressure in 2010. One half of blood pressure related disease occurs in people with higher levels of blood pressure even within the normal range (www.whleague.org).

Most people do not understand their blood pressure numbers.  They see their physician, the physician takes their blood pressure and lets the patient know their numbers.  But has your doctor sat down with you to explain your blood pressure reading/numbers?  If there was cause for concern (even if there isn’t cause for concern), did your doctor explain why he felt concerned and where you should be according to a blood pressure chart?

Did you know that a diet high in salt is one of the major global health risks with over 300 million people estimated to have hypertension caused by high dietary salt?  Did you know an average adult should only consume less than 2,000 milligrams of sodium per day?   People need to be aware that salt can be a dangerous factor for blood pressure and can be controlled with a lower sodium intake.  Buy fresh fruit and foods when possible.  Look for products clearly stating “lower sodium” or “no sodium.”

We at Airfree believe in this mission and care for our customers and suggest everyone participate in World Hypertension Day.  We urge everyone to get their blood pressure taken, meet with their doctor and truly understand the meaning to their blood pressure numbers.  We also suggest any time that you are in a grocery store, pharmacy or facility that has a free-standing blood pressure machine, to sit down and check it.  Check it often.  KNOW YOUR NUMBERS and learn ways to lower a higher blood pressure reading and/or to keep your pressure under control.  As always, consult with your physician.

We firmly believe in our company mission –  To combine the best technology and design, to turn our clients’ needs into innovative solutions for indoor atmospheres, whether for health reasons, comfort or to increase productivity.  Check us out at www.airfree.com for a purifier that will work best for you.
