Independence Day

July 4th or The 4th of July is Independence Day, a national holiday marked by patriotic displays and attending gatherings with friends and family which often include barbecues, picnics, attending a parade in the morning and then a firework display at night.  People love to decorate their home with streamers, balloons, bunting and even their clothing in red, white and blue – the colors of the American flag.  Many major cities throughout the United States host large fireworks displays with live entertainment – allowing everyone to come together.

Independence Day is a federal holiday commemorating the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776, by the Continental Congress declaring that the 13 colonies regarded themselves as a new nation, the United States of America, and no longer part of the British Empire.
